Correspondence and assorted subject files of Jerome W. Brower, chief of the section of departmental administration of the Minnesota Department of Health from 1949 through 1960. Among the more informative files are those that contain Department of Health memoranda and historical notes on the history of public health programs in Minnesota, dates of establishment of state health offices in the fifty states, and standards concerning drive-in restaurants, hospital records, hospital superintendent registration, industrial health practices, and tuberculosis. Other files deal with the licensing of hospitals and nursing homes, including the Budd Hospital in Roseau and Cashel Nursing Home in Worthington; the compiling of vital statistics and accurate population figures on Native Americans in the state; public health issues in both Rochester and greater Olmsted County, as well as in St. Cloud; and regulation of public health nurses, plumbers, trailer coach parks, and water pollution.
